FOUNDED STRAIGHTLINE IN 2001

StraightLine Exteriors Siding Remodeling Vancouer WA Home Website

I got into the industry by way of my Grandfather. My mom’s dad was a carpenter and growing up he had a wood-shop. I was always interested in it and loved tinkering around with the wood working tools. Whenever I would go over there he would be building some type of table, or a lampstand or anything like that. Our bond grew from that shared love of using our hands and those tools to make things. It really sparked my interest with construction and specifically woodworking... at age 10

"FAMILY IS OUR FAVORITE WORD"

then

I took a class at Reynolds High School where we built an entire house from the ground up. We handled every aspect of it from the foundation work to framing to roofing and we were involved in all of it. They hired some subcontractors to help us button some things up, but it was really mostly just us.

I happened to be super good friends with the teacher and he was a great mentor for me. That really fanned the flames and I just loved that entire experience.

AFTER HIGH SCHOOL I MARRIED THE LOVE OF MY LIFE

Cupids Arrow Drawing 2.png

My wife and her family were all into construction and I got started working with my brother in law. He owned a siding company where I learned the trade and I got to a point where I knew I could do this on my own and so I decided I would branch out and create my own business. I wanted to have a little more flexibility, make my own schedule and create the organizational structure that I really loved to work in. That happened to be the time where I met Brad Wuori, who also became part of the family because he married my wife’s sister. We ended up talking about it all and decided to go into business together. That’s how StraightLine Exteriors was born.

In the beginning it was just the two of us, grinding away until we began building a team and hired several employees. It’s not easy work. In fact it was challenging, everyday it was 7:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon on the job site working with all the different products and doing it ourselves, but we both had a strong work ethic and we built this business and made it work.

20 years later

My role has morphed into more of a mentorship. I also provide another layer of quality control. I teach them my way of how to succeed with each of these details that are needed for the projects. It’s less hands-on and more management driven, but I still engage on every project to some extent. If needed I’ll put on a tool belt to join in and help complete the project to make sure we finish on time for our clients.

I still love being hands-on and enjoy working hard with my team day to day, but for the most I’m managing other aspects and teaching the ways I learned to be successful in the trade.

THE BIG HIGHLIGHT

For me it's driving around to all our job sites and being to see all the systems I’ve put into place and all the different methods I’ve taught actually functioning at a high level. Seeing our guys adapt to these systems and really embrace my teaching has been super cool from my perspective. It’s been a very rewarding and fulfilling experience.

Grinding it out myself and figuring out how to make this thing work, then being able to pass that on and share it with others and see them succeed is pretty cool. It’s just awesome.

ACTUALLY...
ANOTHER BIG HIGHLIGHT

Another big moment for me was when we finished the big commercial project that Anthony mentioned starting, the Trio Pointe Apartments in Camas, Washington. I was out there just about every single day for a year and 4 months breaking a sweat. Seeing that come to fruition was a big notch in our belt. It was a lot of hard work on the biggest project we had ever attempted, then we were able to stand back and think ‘wow we actually accomplished that’.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

It was a great feeling. We knew most businesses around here couldn’t accomplish something that size so it was pretty cool. And the place still looks great to this day.

Outside of work I’m highly involved in my church. I’m a worship pasture so I play the guitar and sing and we have a great time. It’s a hobby, but it’s also a passion. It’s something I feel like God put me on this Earth to do. It’s been a growing process, I had never played and never sang but decided to pick up the guitar 10 years ago and got in front of a congregation of about 600-700 people. It’s challenging and super fun.

Family is huge for me, I love my kids and my wife so much. We spend a lot of time together and love to get outdoors. We like to golf, bike, run, hike, fish, hunt. We have a graduate this year so time flies. Everyone always says, ``they grow up so fast” and they’re not lying.
I love fatherhood.

20 Years of Service Badge.jpg

OVER 20 YEARS OF HELPING HOMEOWNERS PROTECT & BEAUTIFY THEIR PROPERTY

We're celebrating 20 years of service to the Portland Metro & Greater Vancouver areas. Both home & business owners have given us the chance to prove ourselves. We appreciate hard work and the opportunity to do it. So to them, "Thank You". Building a small business isn't easy, especially in a line of work where shady characters can prey on homeowners, abusing trust and taking off before jobs are complete. Unlike some contractors, we're absolutely proud of our reputation. Many long days, and a whole lot of elbow grease has built this business from the ground up. Now we're stronger than we've ever been. Cheers to the next 20 years. We hope you'll join us.
